Small rural Wexford boxing club produces five National titles this season

A small but mighty boxing club based in Adamstown, County Wexford, is making waves on the national stage…

St Abban’s Kilmyshall Boxing Club has enjoyed a standout season, proudly securing five national titles across just four talented boxers…

It’s a testament to the dedication, sacrifice, and countless hours of training put in by both athletes and coaches alike.

The club’s impressive list of champions this season includes:

Sean Kelly6-time national champion

Patrick Kelly4-time national champion

Oscar Mardaski3-time national champion

Coady Byrne1-time national champion

Their achievements mark a major milestone for the rural club, which continues to punch above its weight despite limited resources and long travel hours to sparring sessions across the country.

“This season has been incredibly productive,” a spokesperson from the club said. “The boys’ hard work and commitment have really paid off — and we’re not finished yet!”

Special recognition goes to Sean Kelly, who has earned a coveted place on the Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) team. Sean will be representing Ireland at the prestigious World of Havoc Tournament in Florida, which kicks off on July 25th.

The club and community alike are rallying behind Sean, proud to see a local talent step onto the international stage.

From Adamstown to America, the journey of St Abban’s Kilmyshall Boxing Club is a shining example of grassroots sport at its best.
