Wexford farmer wins top prize at Teagasc Environmental Sustainability Awards

A Wexford farmer has won the top prize at the recent Teagasc FBD Environmental Sustainability Awards….

The awards ceremony took place in County Laois on Wednesday night.

Wexford tillage farmer, Don Somers from Oylegate in County Wexford, took home the top prize at the awards, being awarded the overall winner of the Teagasc FBD Environmental Sustainability Awards.

Wexford man Somers also won an award for improving water quality.


Winners:

Patrick and Margaret Dollard – Kilkenny – reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Tom Tierney – Kildare – enhancing biodiversity

Don Somers – Wexford – improving water quality

Conor O’Brien – Galway – improving soil health

Kay O’Sullivan – Cork – organic production

Emer O’Keeffe – Cork – diversification
