Wexford calendar raising money for charity enters its sixth year

In the midst of lockdown, local photographer Kenny Goodison started a yearly tradition of selling Wexford themed calendars to raise money for charity…

During the pandemic, millions of people across the world suddenly found themselves at home for an extended period with little to occupy themselves with.

One local photographer decided to pass the time by posting some of his shots online and asking the public to vote for their personal favourites. At the end of the year, Kenny Goodison had the makings of a calendar.

Kenny Goodison’s calendar is now in its sixth year, with the latest instalment hitting shelves earlier this week. Every year, copies of the calendar are sold in local shops with the proceeds going towards a number of local charities.

“When I started the calendar, I only had a vision of supporting the WSPCA (Wexford Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). When it took off, I said – ‘Why not help another couple of charities?’ I do two different charities every year to go with the WSPCA.”

The proceeds of the 2026 calendar will be going towards the WSPCA as well as Rare Warriors Wexford, which supports families affected by rare conditions, and the Tracie Lawlor Trust for Cystic Fibrosis.

Every year Goodison, who is a professional landscape and wildlife photographer, compiles an eclectic mix of wildlife and landscape shots with a Wexford theme. Many of the calendars even find their way abroad.

“I’ve had calendars sent to Australia, Holland, Ohio, Texas and more. I love the fact that someone in Australia has my calendar on the wall. It’s a good Christmas present to send away to people. We all know people who have left Wexford.”

Kenny Goodison’s 2026 calendar is available for purchase in the following locations: WSPCA Animal Charity Shop, Boggans service station on Newtown Road, Kinsella’s Mace Belvedere, Spectrum Art and Framing and The Book Centre, Wexford Town.
