For Ciaran Power, determination has always been part of the game….
Growing up in Wexford, his life revolved around hurling, a sport he loved with a relentless passion.
“Hurling was my life, but my energy towards it had to go elsewhere,” he reflects, recalling the guidance that eventually shaped his career path.
From a young age, his love for sport sparked a fascination with health and fitness – though initially, he wasn’t sure how to turn that interest into a career.
A conversation with his Guidance Counsellor at St. Peter’s College suggested the gym might be his only route into the field.
But for Ciaran, giving up hurling was not an option.
“If you want to be the best hurler you can be, you can’t be like everyone else,” he said.
Citing advice from his cousin at age 14, it was this mindset that led to ten alcohol-free years and an unwavering focus on discipline and performance.

Ciaran went on to study Business in Waterford while continuing to play hurling until an injury ended his sporting career.
“I realised I never really wanted to do this anyway, so I put my energy back into health and fitness,” he told Wexford Weekly.
This revelation launched him into personal training, eventually catching the attention of industry leader Owen Lacey in Dublin. Under Lacey’s mentorship, Ciaran built his reputation but despite his success, the competitive nature of the fitness industry, with former clients opening their own gyms, prompted another pivot.
“I’d done the business and fitness, so realising this wasn’t for me, I finally turned to the health side of things,” he said.
That pivot led him to earn a degree in Physiotherapy from Cork and a Master’s Degree in Osteopathy from London, where he achieved Student of the Year in both programs.
All the while, he was building CP Clinic from the ground up, which was a process that involved “five years and 256 flights to and from London.”
Finally channelling his passion into a career with purpose, CP Clinic was established. From its humble beginnings at his home, then The Coal Bunker, the clinic now thrives in Clonard Village as Wexford’s leading multidisciplinary clinic.
Alongside running CP Clinic, he now also shares his expertise as a lecturer at ICOM in Cork, inspiring the next generation of health professionals.
“My vision has always been to be as many things as possible.”
Today, the clinic offers osteopathy, physiotherapy, sports therapy, rehab, massage, and advanced treatments like K-Laser, Shockwave Therapy, Dry Needling, and Isokinetic Dynamometer Testing all under one roof. With loyal clients and glowing reviews, CP Clinic has become a trusted one-stop destination for health, recovery, and wellbeing.
Success, however, hasn’t been without its challenges. Balancing business growth, family life, and building a new home tested his resilience. But Ciaran credits much of his journey to the people who supported him along the way; from a cousin who shaped his mindset as a teen to a father who “would back any ideas I had about the future.”
His advice for aspiring health professionals is simple:
“Have a vision as long as you have an idea, you can build around it.”
For this one Wexford man, what began as a love of sport has become a lifelong mission to help others move, recover, and transform a passion into a true purpose.
