The Wexford Senior hurlers returned to action on Sunday…
Keith Rossiter’s charges defeated Laois in Rathdowney on Sunday on a score-line of 0-17 to 1-20. A late surge from a brand-new Wexford team with a lot of new faces in the second half secured the win in the opening game of the season.
It was a game which saw Ciaran Regan raise a green flag, while long-serving Wexford hurler – Kevin Foley – walked away with the Man of the Match award.
Wexford, who are the reigning champions in the Walsh Cup, will now take on Dublin this Thursday in the Walsh Cup quarter-final after the Dubs defeated Carlow in the previous game.
The fixture details have since been confirmed and it’s a home clash for Wexford as expected.
A win for Wexford will see them take on Westmeath in the semi-final next weekend, while Offaly and Galway will battle it out in the other semi-final.
Although Wexford are without a lot of players heading into the new season, the pre-season competition has allowed the manager to blood new players and provide them with opportunities to stamp their mark on the Wexford team for the 2026 season.
