WWETB’s Inter-Firms Hurling team were crowned Senior Hurling League champions on Friday night following a thrilling one-point victory over Tirlán, with the final score reading WWETB 1-15, Tirlán 1-14, in difficult rainy conditions at the Carlow GAA Centre of Excellence.
In a high-quality and fiercely contested Senior Hurling League Final, the WWETB hurlers showed immense character and resilience. Despite being reduced to 14 men early in the second half, the lads battled strongly, showing huge determination, work rate, and composure to hold off a determined Tirlán side and secure a memorable victory.
The team was captained by Alan Walsh (Coláiste Abbáin) and Gavin O’Brien (St. Paul’s Community College), whose leadership proved crucial as WWETB dug deep during the closing stages of the game.
This victory not only secures the Senior Hurling League title, but also completes a remarkable league double for WWETB, following last week’s football league final victory over Tipperary ETB. The win also guarantees WWETB a place in the Leinster Final and progression to the All-Ireland quarter-final, with a Leinster Final victory securing a spot in the All-Ireland semi-final.
The panel represents a wide range of schools and centres across the region, including Coláiste Abbáin, Coláiste an Átha, St. Paul’s Community College, St. Declan’s College, Enniscorthy Community College, Creagh College, Bunclody Community College, Bridgetown College, Kennedy College, Selskar College, and WWETB Apprenticeship Centres, reflecting the strength and depth of talent within WWETB.

The management team for the campaign consisted of Dean O’Connor and Garry Conroy (Coláiste Abbáin), Ben Cowman (Creagh College), Pat McGrath (Kennedy College), and Eamon Scallan (Bunclody Community College).
A huge well done to the entire panel and management team on an outstanding achievement, as WWETB now look ahead to the Leinster Final and the latter stages of the All-Ireland series.
