Bakery to remain in Enniscorthy with new owners

A beloved bakery tradition is set to continue in the heart of Enniscorthy as Kehoe’s Bakery prepares to open its doors on Church Street…

The new venture will take over the premises of Cooney’s Bakery, ensuring that the familiar aroma of fresh bread and sweet treats will remain a fixture in the town.

Last month, owners Mervyn and Cathy Cooney confirmed they will be stepping away from the business for health reasons, bringing an end to 35 successful years at the helm.

Since 1991, Cooney’s traditional family bakery has been producing delicious baked goods for the people of Wexford and beyond, earning a loyal customer base and becoming a cherished part of the local community.

Now, a new chapter begins. Kehoe’s Bakery has announced it will proudly carry on the tradition of fresh, delicious Irish baking daily, while also introducing some exciting new additions.

Emphasising its commitment to the area, the bakery says it is proud to remain in the heart of Enniscorthy, continuing to support local employment and uphold a strong sense of community spirit.

With tradition at its core and a fresh energy behind the counter, the future of Church Street’s much-loved bakery looks bright — traditionally Irish and ready for its next chapter.
