Since its inception, the league has experienced sustained growth, evolving into a highly anticipated annual competition. It has previously engaged over 20 clubs and continues to attract approximately 400 registered players annually.
The league serves as a vital platform for player retention and recruitment within participating clubs, offering the over-35 demographic a structured opportunity for competitive sport and social engagement.
League Structure and Operations:
- Schedule: Matches are primarily contested on Friday evenings.
- Format: The competition is played on a traditional 11-a-side basis on grass or astroturf pitches.
- Officiating: Fixtures are predominantly managed by accredited Irish Society of Referees (ISRS) officials.
- Competition: Each participating team is guaranteed a minimum of ten fixtures per season, with four distinct trophies available for contention.
- Media Coverage: All recent final matches have been professionally live-streamed online.
Administration and Registration:
To streamline club administration, player registration and insurance fee collection are handled centrally and directly by the League committee.
Expressions of Interest:
The League is currently soliciting formal expressions of interest from both new and returning teams for participation in the upcoming summer season.
