Wexford butchers crowned best burger in Ireland

The Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland has announced the winners of the inaugural Burger & Kebab of the Year Competition 2026, held at the prestigious Ashdown Park Hotel…

This landmark event — the first of its kind — brought together the very best of Ireland’s craft butchery talent, showcasing exceptional creativity, skill, and innovation across both burger and kebab categories.

Entries from across the country were prepared by acclaimed Head Chef Andrew O’Gorman and his expert culinary team. A panel of over 12 judges evaluated each entry on taste, presentation, originality, and overall appeal, resulting in an outstanding display of quality and craftsmanship.

Speaking at the event, representatives from the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland said:

“This competition has exceeded all expectations in its first year. The quality, creativity, and dedication on display highlight the strength and future of craft butchery in Ireland.”

Meanwhile, Head Chef Andrew O’Gorman added:

“It was an honour to judge such an incredible range of entries. The level of innovation and flavour was exceptional — a true testament to the talent within the industry.”

The competition marks the beginning of what is set to become a flagship annual event, aiming to celebrate excellence in Irish produce and craftsmanship while inspiring the next generation of butchers.
