Double-header scheduled for Offaly-Wexford Leinster hurling clash

A double header has been set for O’Connor Park, Offaly, this weekend…

The Wexford Senior hurlers have two games remaining in the Leinster Championship. Their remaining games are against Offaly (away) and then Galway (home) in the final round.

Next up for the Wexford Senior hurlers is an away clash to Tullamore, Offaly, this weekend.

A double-header has been scheduled in O’Connor Park.

Both the Wexford Senior hurlers and the Wexford Senior Camogie team will be taking on Offaly on their home turf. The Wexford Senior Camogie team, who just last week won the Leinster Senior Camogie title, will take on Offaly in Round 1 of their All-Ireland hurling campaign, with throw-in schedueld for 4pm. Following that, the Wexford Senior hurlers will take on an in-form Offaly hurling team at 6pm.

Offaly’s form on home soil this year in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship is noteworthy. They drew against the Dubs and then Kilkenny in their most recent outing. A win for the Faitful County will see them placed in contention for a third-placed finish, perhaps even higher if results go their way — with Offaly to take on Kildare in the final round.

Ahead of the clash, the bookmakers have Offaly as slight favourites to win the game, although they have found the pairing hard to seperate:

Offaly 5/6, Wexford 11/10, Draw 10/1.

This clash for Offaly is also important not just for their Leinster Championship hopes, but for their survival too. A loss for Offaly will see them travel to Kildare in their final round for a potential relegation decider, something that they will be keen to avoid after a good season.

The Wexford-Offaly match will not be broadcasted on television, nor will it be live-streamed anywhere to watch. Local radio station, South East Radio, will have commentary, however.
