Wexford’s Dean Furlong has announced a new fight date…
Wexford boxer, Dean ‘Speedy’ Gonzalez-Furlong is now based in Spain and he has announced a new fight date.
He will be fighting on a Boxeo card next month on 11 July 2026. A host of amateur and professional boxing fights will take place at the IFA Exhibition Centre in Elche, Alicante, Spain. Furlong has racked up an impressive 8-0 winning streak in the professional boxing ranks, with two of his fights (England and Ireland) taking place outside of Spain.
Meanwhile, professional boxer David ‘Bomber’ Kennedy from Gorey, County Wexford, has also confirmed to Wexford Weekly that he will be on an upcoming Leopardstown card.
In other professional boxing news, Wicklow icon Katie Taylor has confirmed that she will be fighting in Croke Park in September.
Whether or not we will see any Wexford boxers fighting on the undercard of the Katie Taylor homecoming in Croke Park fight remains to be seen.
