Wexford boxing fans now have another date to mark in their calendars…
The bout will also mark an exciting new chapter in Dean Walsh’s career following his recent signing with JB Promotions, one of Ireland’s leading professional boxing promoters.
Talented local boxer Dean Walsh is set to make his long-awaited return to the ring on September 26.
Announcing the signing, JB Promotions praised Walsh’s exceptional amateur pedigree, describing him as one of Ireland’s standout amateur talents.
Walsh narrowly missed out on another Irish title in his most recent professional outing, losing a razor-close final to Daniel O’Sullivan, one that many observers believed could easily have gone in Walsh’s favour. It’s believed that Walsh will now be turning his attention to a fresh challenge at welterweight.
His amateur achievements speak for themselves. Walsh captured an incredible 13 Irish championship titles, including six Elite Irish Championships, earned a European bronze medal, and was named Best Boxer at the Elite Irish Championships on three occasions.
JB Promotions believes the move to welterweight represents the beginning of an exciting new era, with championship ambitions firmly in sight.
Speaking about the signing, the promotion described it as “a new division, a new chapter and a new challenge,” as Dean Walsh begins the next phase of his boxing journey.
Anticipation is already building among Wexford supporters eager to see one of the county’s finest boxing talents take the next step in his career. The September contest cannot come quick enough for Walsh.
Meanwhile, in related professional boxing news, David Kennedy has his sights set on moving to 4-0 in the professioanl boxing ranks on July 10th when he takes on a Polish opponent.
