The Crescent Quay Public Realm Project in Wexford Town has been featured in the winning photograph of the national Our Ireland, Our EU photography competition…
The competition, organised by the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation (DPER), invited members of the public to capture the impact of projects co-funded by the European Union and the Government of Ireland.
The first-place photograph in Category One, “Vigilant Commodore” by Ruth Tapial, depicts the Crescent Quay Public Realm Project in Wexford Town, a project co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The photograph was announced as the category winner at an awards ceremony attended by Minister Jack Chambers in Government Buildings on Thursday, 23 July.
Ruth Tapial was unable to attend the ceremony. Representatives from projects featured in the winning images were also invited to attend the event, including Lar Lett of Wexford County Council who worked on the Crescent Quay Public Realm Project.
The competition highlighted projects and initiatives supported through Government of Ireland and EU co-funded programmes across Ireland, showcasing their impact on communities, public spaces, education, skills development and social inclusion.
A total of 82 eligible photographs were featured in the competition, with more than 13,000 people visited the competition website and over 3,500 members of the public registered to vote for their favourite image.
Prizes were presented by Minister Jack Chambers at a ceremony in Government Buildings on Thursday, 23 July.
