Jesse Dempsey, a former student of Wexford CBS, has joined the League Two side Fleetwood Town on loan after impressing during his time with Waterford FC.
The defender has enjoyed a rapid rise through the ranks in recent years. Having started his football journey with Wexford Albion before spells with Wexford FC and UCD, Dempsey earned a move to Italian Serie A outfit Lecce in 2024. He later returned to Ireland with Waterford FC, where his performances quickly saw him break into the first team and establish himself as one of the club’s brightest young prospects.
Dempsey signed his first professional contract with Waterford in 2025 after making an impressive impact in the League of Ireland Premier Division, with the club praising his development and potential.
His latest move to Fleetwood Town now provides another exciting opportunity to continue his development in the English professional game.
The loan move is another proud moment for Wexford football, with Dempsey becoming the latest local player to secure a move across the Irish Sea after progressing through the underage ranks in the county.
Wexford CBS, where Dempsey went to school, previously hailed his rise through the game following his move to Italy, recognising the dedication and hard work that has brought him to the professional ranks.
