The Ireland Funds is supporting 66 students from 21 counties across the island of Ireland through the George Moore Scholars programme in 2026, including two students from Wexford….
Later this year, they will begin Master’s degrees at universities across the United States, the UK and Europe, pursuing studies across a wide range of fields and exploring solutions to some of today’s most pressing challenges. The two Wexford scholars will be studying at universities in London.
The two Wexford students selected for this year’s programme are:
- Dervla Walsh, who will study an MSc in Spatial Planning at University College London.
- Nadine Power, who will study an MSc in International Public & Social Policy (Education) at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Launched by The Ireland Funds in 2019, the George Moore Scholars programme invests in the next generation of leaders and innovators by widening access to postgraduate education and extending learning opportunities for students across the island of Ireland.
Awarded to students with outstanding academic achievements who share the ambition to make a positive impact in their field of study, the scholarships also aim to create meaningful change in wider society. In 1972, George Moore received a scholarship to study in the US, which enabled him to become one of the most successful Irish-American businessmen of his generation. The ethos – supporting people with talent, drive and potential at a key stage in their lives – remains at the heart of the George Moore Scholars programme.
The scholarships provide funding towards tuition fees, travel, accommodation and other costs associated with postgraduate study overseas. Alongside this financial support, the programme offers mentorship and access to a global network of fellow scholars, empowering students to achieve their full potential and contribute to the global community.

Across the wider 2026 cohort, scholars will pursue Master’s degrees in a diverse range of fields, reflecting both the breadth of their ambitions and the challenges they hope to address. Their studies will take them to institutions including the University of Oxford, ETH Zurich, the University of Cambridge, Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
