Wexford To Release ‘Behind The Scenes’ Davy Fitzgerald DVD That Followed Hurlers

Davy Fitzgerald is a big name in the GAA world. Since becoming manager, the Clare native has revived interest in Wexford hurling...

Davy Fitzgerald was ratified as Wexford Senior hurling manager on a three-year term in 2016. After two months of constant speculation over his future, Wexford GAA confirmed the reappointment of Fitzgerald for another two-years at the helm.

During Wexford’s 2019 campaign, the Model County defeated Kilkenny in the Leinster final to capture the Bob O’Keeefe Cup for the first time since 2004. Their first Leinster final success was a momentous achievement, not only for Fitzgerald, but for Wexford as a whole. The team’s progression was clear, and Wexford hurling was officially back amongst the top-tier.

Since Fitzgerald’s appointment in Wexford, it’s evident that hurling in the county is on an upward curve; there’s more of an interest in local GAA, with inter-county matches, and there’s more people attending games. And although Fitzgerald’s name might have come with a costly price, the county’s investment in the eccentric manager seems like it has duly paid off.

On the eve of Wexford announcing a new lucrative sponsorahip deal and a new GAA jersey, it has now emerged that Wexford GAA will now release a ‘behind the scenes’ DVD that followed Fitzgerald’s three-year Wexford tenure from 2016-2019.

The DVD promises to be an entertaining watch. The DVD venture involving both managers and players will act as a fundraiser for Wexford hurling, and it will be released to the public over the next three to four weeks.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Fitzgerald said:

“I have been recording behind the scenes since I took over the Wexford Senior hurlers. We will have everything that goes along with the preparation of a side for inter-county hurling. It will take supporters behind the scenes. It’ll be very interesting.”

Meanwhile, Wexford GAA are currently organising a cooperate dinner function, which will be held at Clayton Whites Hotel in Wexford. On the night, the Wexford Senior hurlers will be presented with their Leinster final winners medals. More details are due to be announced by Wexford GAA shortly.
