Wexford Native Wins Footballer Of The Year For DCU Freshers Team

With talent like this coming through, Wexford’s future is exciting..

Two Wexford natives received individual university honours in their respective sports. A Wexford man won the Freshers hurler of the year and a Wexford native has also won the Freshers footballer of the year, both for DCU.

As you could guess, the freshers hurler and football tournaments are competed by hurlers and footballers in their first year of college only.

Niall Murphy, a Ferns St Aidans club-man, won the individual honour from DCU.

Now, it has emerged that a Wexford native has also won the individual honour for the DCU Fresher’s footballers.

Paraic Hughes, a Kilanerin-Ballyfad clubman and the cousin of Wexford Senior footballer Niall Hughes, has received the individual honour for DCU’s fresher footballers.

The news was announced this morning via a Twitter post from DCU where they congratulated the young Wexford man on winning the award.
