The Public Can Now Enter Wexford’s Historic Johnstown Castle

Ever wondered what it’s like inside Wexford’s Johnstown Castle? Well, now you’re in luck…

Johnstown Castle in county Wexford has officially opened it’s doors for the public to see. It’s the first time ever that the public will be allowed walk throughout the inside of the castle.

The estate has had visitors for over 850 years walking the grounds, but inside the castle itself has never been opened.

The opening was due to happen in 2019, but it was delayed due to theCovid-19 pandemic.

Guided tours can be booked online at Johnstown Castle’s official website.

Situated just outside of Wexford, Johnstown Castle and Gardens is an ideal place to bring all the family for a day out. The castle was built was the Esmonde family in 1169.

Beautiful green gardens surround the house, while there are also some magnificent walking trails and a lake.

Just last year, Johnstown Castle was voted in the list for the Top 10 things to do and places to visit in Wexford.
