Both the Wexford Senior hurlers and the Wexford Senior footballers will be out in action this weekend…
The hurlers, who will take part in the Walsh Cup, will be under the stewardship of new Wexford hurling manager Darragh Egan for the first time.
The hurlers will take on Laois in Rathdowney this Sunday Jan 9th at 2pm. There will be an interest in the game, with public interest gearing towards Darragh Egan’s style of play. Whether or not he opts for a sweeper, similar to former manager Davy Fitzgerald, will be an interest to many fans travelling to the game. Likewise, with all pre-season competitions, there will be an interest in the ‘new blood’ that Egan brings in.
Meanwhile, in the O’Byrne Cup, Shane Roche’s Wexford footballers will also take on Laois. This game will take place in Hollymount (Shelmaliers) on Saturday at same time of 2pm. Wexford competed quite well under Roche last year and fans of the big ball will be hoping that the Wexford footballers continue their progression.
Those interested in travelling to watch the footballers should note that the venue has now changed to the Shelmaliers ground (Hollymount).
Tickets for the both the hurling and football pre-season clashes against Laois can be purchased online here on the Leinster Council website. Tickets cost €10, while children under 14 are free.
