Two Wexford Senior hurlers have been named on the GAA.ie team of the week…
St Martins club man, Rory O’Connor, has made it onto the team. O’Connor has been named midfield on the team, despite starring in the attack for Wexford against Galway on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Shelmaliers club-man Simon Donohoe was named in the corner-back position. A stellar defensive performance against the Tribesmen saw Donohoe claim the number four spot on this week’s GAA team of the week.
Given the absence of important full-back partner Liam Ryan, Donohoe was solid throughout the game, plucking a number of balls from the sky over his opponent. Along with that, he also picked up a point for himself in the second-half.
Other Wexford defenders including Shane Reck, Damien Reck, and Paudie Foley could count themselves unlucky too, while Wexford now looks to be a new team with the presence of Conall Flood in the wing-back line.
Arguably, any of the Wexford backs could have been named on the team of the week for this week after last week’s clash against Gwaly.
The Wexford players who were not named will not be one bit concerned about their omission from this team of the week. Their attention now turns to the fourth round Allianz Hurling League clash which takes place in Chadwicks Wexford Park against Offaly next weekend.
