New Local Wexford Band Set Up Have Big Aims

There’s a new band in town…

A new band has recently been set up and they have big aims. The band’s name is Stratus and they’re a four-piece classic rock/alternative band.

The band consists of four members, namely Darragh Byrne (Gorey) who is the lead singer, drummer Fionn Murphy (Gorey), lead guitar player Sean Croker, (Arklow ) and bass player Diarmuid Ó Chonchuir.

We sat down with the lead singer, Darragh Byrne.

“We’ve been playing for a while with a couple of gigs under our belt. Our most recent was Whelan’s (Dublin last Saturday which was by far our biggest gig yet. Our set is completely filled with originals. We are gigging at Balor demons MCC Biker festival. Our next few gigs will be announced closer with a lot of them up in Dublin” he said.

Asked who they are influenced by, Darragh said:

“We are influenced by bands such as Guns n Roses, Oasis and the Rolling Stones,” he said.

They’re a new band playing gigs, but they have their eyes on the Gorey Market House Festival as a potential place to showcase their talent.

“We have many more gigs lined up and our big aim this summer is to get to play at Gorey Market House Festival.”

For those interested in following the new band, Stratus can be found on Spotify, while they also have their own Instagram account which can be found here.
