Deeny: “I was surprised. Everyone was surprised that I scored that try”

Leinster took on Connacht this evening in a New Year’s Day showdown at the RDS…

On the 23rd minute mark, Wexford man Brian Deeny went over the line to score a try. He went down the blindside from the base of the ruck to score.

Deeny’s try can be viewed below:

It was great to see that Wexford’s Brian Deeny was on the winning side too, with the score finishing in favour of a dominant Leinster, 41-12.

Deeny spoke to Leinster Rugby’s media team after the game and he couldn’t hide his delight:

“It was amazing. My whole family are here. There’s about 20 Deeny’s and O’Connor’s in the stands,” he started the interview with.

Deeny also spoke about the try he scored in his first home appearance:

“I was surprised. Everyone was surprised that I scored that try. But it was lovely to get in and celebrate with the lads. A special feeling scoring a try in front of all the fans too” he continued.
