After their win against Kilkenny, helped by Offaly’s win over Laois, Wexford can now look forward to a Walsh Cup final…
The Wexford Senior hurlers are due to play Galway in the final.
The Walsh Cup final was originally fixed to take place next weekend in Croke Park, Dublin.
However, that has now been changed.
Instead, the final will double down as the Walsh Cup final to coincide with the opening Allianz League hurling clash.
Wexford GAA confirmed this evening that the match has been pencilled in to take place on February 4th at 5pm. It means that the Walsh Cup final will be taking place in Wexford Park as a result of the change.
Both teams were in agreement with the amendment.
It will be another evening to look forward to under the new lights at Wexford Park, and with another bumper crowd expected, it will provide an excellent opportunity for Wexford to pick up their first piece of silverware for 2023.
It means that there would be no ‘shadow boxing’ as some had earlier suggested and that both teams can go hell-for-leather on the opening Allianz League clash.
