Darragh Egan Outlines Goal To Win Leinster Hurling Title; It’s A Must-Win Game Against Dubs

Wexford will take on Dublin in Croke Park tomorrow (Saturday)…

Wexford’s third round of the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship will take place on Saturday May 6th at 5pm in Croke Park.

It’s a huge game in the hurling calendar for both Wexford and Dublin fans. A win for either side will keep their Leinster Championship hopes alive. Should Wexford win, they’ll have two home games in their remaining games.

Darragh Egan has named his Wexford Senior hurling team to take on the Dubs. It’s good news for Wexford hurling supporters, as Damien Reck returns from injury and he will play centre-back, while Liam Ryan maintains his place on the team as full-back despite being an injury doubt following the Antrim clash.

Speaking at the launch of the Dillon Quirke Foundation, the Wexford Senior hurling manager stated that one of the major goals for the year is to win the Leinster hurling final.

“I’ve said this from the outset this year, a Leinster title is our target. We had a good run last year, we got through in third place, unlucky to lose against Clare in the quarter-final.

“But we need to be targeting a Leinster title this year. 2019, Wexford won a Leinster title. The last one was a good few years before, 2004.

“So we’re really properly targeting the Leinster Championship this year. The main thing is beat Dublin this Saturday. If we don’t, we’re not going to win a Leinster title so it’s a big game for us,” he told The Irish Mirror.

Wexford will need a win against Dublin to keep that target alive. After that, they’ll require wins against Westmeath and Kilkenny, both of which are at home.
