Recently, over on the Wexford Weekly Facebook page, we ran a poll…
We were on the lookout for the best restaurants across Wexford. We asked our followers to vote in the poll and over 500 individual votes were counted. The results are now in.
10 – CDMX
CDMX is a new Mexican restaurant in Wexford town. They offer a truly Mexican hospitality and the dishes served make this an experience, to say the least. They are located near White’s Hotel in Wexford, so if you’re feeling it, you could always pop over when you’re staying there.

9 – The Courtyard
The Courtyard is located in the heart of Ferns. Parking can be secured directly across the road in the church which makes it easy and accessible. Like Mary Barry’s, they offer large portions and you can be sure once you eat here, you won’t leave hungry and you’ll want to go back. Overall, the food here is delightful. They also are renowned for their creamy Guinness – some may say it’s the best in Wexford.

8 – Raspberry
Raspberry Restaurant is located in Gorey town. They only opened in 2021, but they have been a hit with customers, with many coming from neighbouring towns and even down from Dublin to enjoy a night here. Along with the food, the vibe is high-end but the prices are not which is always great. Along with their food, they specialise in cocktails and having one or two here is definitely a good shout.

7 – The Village @ Wheelocks
They’re known for their unbelievable ice-cream during the summers and for their strawberries. But the food here is just as good and as a result, they’ve made it onto the top 10 Wexford restaurants. With over 80 seats on their premises, you can enjoy the cosy atmosphere of their indoor seating area or relax outside in the courtyard.

6 – Aldridge Lodge
Duncannon’s Aldridge Lodge sources the finest quality ingredients, locally grown and organic. Two big hits on their menu for customers are the duck and the lobster, which always goes down a treat. For dessert, it’s hard to look past their Sticky Toffee pudding. Tell them Wexford Weekly recommended it – and you can thank us after!

5 – Whitford House
Whitford House will probably feel hard done by not getting a higher spot. They have an extensive – but not expensive – menu on offer. The rib-eye steak and the lamb are the go-tos. It’s an easy place to get to with plenty of parking on offer, given the fact that it’s also a hotel. Like some of the others, you are not going to leave here hungry with substantial portions on offer. The last time I went, I couldn’t even finish the dessert!

4 – Mary Barry’s
Mary Barry’s is located in Kilmore. They are a seafood restaurant, and although they do specialise in seafood, they offer a range of other dishes on their menu too such as burgers and curries. But, given their region, it’s probably best to go for the seafood offerings. You will not leave here disappointed wither, offering large portions to their guests.

3 – 10 West Bistro
10 West Bistro is a renowned restaurant and cocktail lounge in Wexford Town, known for its high-quality food, beverages, and exceptional service. One recent Google review of their restaurant stated that “everything was perfect” and that the staff were super-friendly and looked after all of their guests really well, which is always a bonus when eating out.

2 – The Strand
Located in Duncannon, the Strand has gained the second spot after getting 66 individual votes. The creamy chicken here goes down very easily, but for those wanting something that little bit different, their BBQ ribs are up there with the best in Wexford. On their menu, they offer a range of homemade burgers too – which are always a hit with hungry customers.

1 – The Country Bistro
The Country Bistro is located in Tahgmon and they’ve been in business now for over 30 years – which says something in itself. They received 115 votes, which was over 20% of all unique votes underneath the post. It shows that they have loyal supporters, but that just means that their food is good too. The roast beef here is to die for, while their battered fillet of Kilmore cod is up there too. One of the best things about this restaurant, beyond the quality, is the price, with most main courses coming in at under 16 euro. It seems like they’re doing everything right here at the Country Bistro in Taghmon.

It wasn’t the only poll we ran this summer. We also found out the best takeaways and the best pubs in the county for 2023.
