Three young Wexford boxers have been selected for Team Ireland…
Team Ireland will be competing at the European Junior Championships in 2024.
Ireland did not compete at last year’s competition, but the last time they competed – in 2022 – they brought back a massive haul of 10 medals.
Two Wexford boxers have been selected as part of the 25 strong team.
They include Kalib Walsh of Wexford CBS, Kayleigh Byrne who fights out of Gorey Boxing Club, and Mary Ann Furlong who fights out of Na Fianna Boxing Club in Wexford. 3
Walsh fights in the 50kg male division, while Kayleigh Byrne – who was recently crowned National Cadet Champion – fights in the 57kg division. Meanwhile, Mary Ann Furlong fights in the 52kg division.
The European Junior Championships will take place in Sarajevo, a city in the Bosnia and Herzegovina, from June 21st to July 3rd.
It’s great to see that Wexford is well represented on the European stage, representing Team Ireland.
