6 – The Kitchen @ Gorey

The Kitchen at Gorey is the only restaurant in Gorey to make the list. It says a lot about their premises when you consider the array of excellent restaurants on offer in the bustling market town. The Kitchen’s philosophy is a humble one: To create simple but refined dishes using only the very best local ingredients. Their wood-fired pizzas and garlic bread are to die for, and make sure to get one of their sticky toffee puddings after as a little treat. You won’t be disappointed when you visit the Kitchen, based at the top of Gorey on North Parade, near Paddy Blues Pub.

5 – Mary Barry’s

Mary Barry’s restaurant is a fan favourite and always seems to do well with the online Wexford Weekly polls. For sunny days, they have a large outdoor area and it’s an ideal spot to sit down, enjoy the sun, and treat yourself to some delicious food. But their interior is unique and worth a visit too. Based on the coastal village of Kilmore in South Wexford, they specialise in sea-food. But they have plenty on offer here such as their homemade lasagne and the Mary Barry’s double burger if you fancy something else other than sea-food.

4 – Santorini’s, Wexford

Taking number four for on the list of the best restaurants in Wexford is our sponsor for this topic, Santorini’s, based in Wexford town. 3 – The Red Door Coffee and Deli

Based in the small Wexford village of Carrig on Bannow, The Red Door Coffee and Deli is a must-go when you’re down this end of the country. Their unreal artisan coffee and fresh scones, taken right out of the oven in front of you, are customer’s favourite for lunch. They are a European restaurant that caters for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For dinner, they have a delicious tasting pan-fried medallions of Pork fillet complimented by a rosemary sauce on their menu which is heavenly.

2 – Lobster Pot, Wexford

The Lobster Pot is another seafood restaurant. Similar to Mary Barry’s, they are based in a traditional Irish pub setting, serving local seafood and fresh quality seasonal ingredients. This is another South Wexford restaurant, based in Carne, Rosslare. Under new management for 2024, the Lobster Pot is quickly becoming a fan-favourite in Rosslare. Described by customers as a “hidden treasure”, they pride themselves on serving fresh food with genuine hospitality in a fun, lively atmosphere.

1 – The Country Bistro

It’s safe to say that their customers enjoy this place. The Country Bistro featured prominently in the polling, securing 152 of the 449 votes, which works out at just over 33% of all votes. The Country Bistro is based in the village of Taghmon in South Wexford. They were established in 1993 and they are still going strong 30 years later, which says a lot about their business. They have a range of fabulous starters, mains and desserts on offer and they’re open six days per week. One online review of this restaurant summed the place up: “Our waitress was so nice and friendly & great talking to the kids. We had a delicious 3 course meal. Lovely atmosphere. Couldn’t fault it. Will definitely be back.” The people of Wexford have now spoken and they’ve spoken with intent. The Country Bistro in Taghmon is Wexford’s best restaurant for 2024.
