Celebrations as Wexford teacher welcomed back to school following World Championship athletics win

There’s some more excellent sporting news coming out of Wexford….

Wexford continues to shine on the national and international stage.

A Wexford teacher, Fiona Kehoe, has arrived back to Ireland from Gothenburg in Sweden as a World Champion. She comfortably won the competition, well clear of the field, with a time of 4.38.46.

Fiona from Kilmore in Wexford, who works as a PE teacher in Enniscorthy Community College, was presented with a bouquet of flowers upon her arrival back into the school community.

Sharing the news onto their Facebook page, the school expressed their delight:

“We have a World Champion on our hands in Enniscorthy Community College! A massive congratulations to our PE teacher Ms Fiona Kehoe on winning the W40 1,500m at the World Masters Championships in Gothenburg! What an achievement! We’re all proud of you,” they said.

Fiona was one of 12 Gold medal winners which were part of Team Ireland and the World Masters Athletics Championships. It was an excellent championships for Ireland overall, gaining 35 medals in total at the competition.
