15 quick-fire questions with professional Wexford boxer David ‘Bomber’ Kennedy

Just over two weeks ago, Wexford native David ‘Bomber’ Kennedy announced that he is turning professional in boxing…

The 28-year old Gorey man has also pencilled in his first professional fight. He will be fighting in the “Warehouse” of the Red Cow in Dublin on October 4th.

With just over three weeks to go to his professional debut, the countdown is now on and Kennedy will be fighting on the undercard of the exciting all-Irish bout between Senan Kelly and Declan Geragthy.

As proud sponsors of David ‘Bomber’ Kennedy for his upcoming professional boxing debut, Wexford Weekly had the opportunity to catch up with him to ask him some quick-fire questions.

1.      Favourite food?

“It has to be pizza…”

2.      Outside of the ring, what are your hobbies?

“Golf. I’ve been playing a lot of golf recently, but I’m not really getting much better though.”

3.      Favourite song?

“I have a few, but recently, I’ve been listening to a lot of Morgan Wallen.”

4.      Favourite movie?

“A close one. I think it has to be either Wolf of Wall Street, or Gladiator…”

5.      Coffee or tea?

“Coffee – all day long”

6.      Biggest sporting motivation?

“I’m motivated by big nights and title fights.”

7.      Favourite ever athlete?

“It would have to be Floyd Mayweather, but a close second would be Usain Bolt.”

8.      Recommended country to visit?

“I would say Australia. It’s a great place; a different lifestyle plus the sun is always shining.”

9.      Best thing to do in Gorey?

“Wake up on a Saturday morning, go for a run. After the run, I’d go down to the best barbershop in Gorey – Jordan’s Barbershop – and get a trim for myself and then get a coffee after.”

10.  Best thing to do in Wexford?

“One of my favourite things to do is to watch Wexford hurl in the Park.”

11.  Your personal favourite boxing memory?

“There’s two. The first All-Ireland was always special. Then, representing my country is hard to beat.”

12.  Favourite boxing combination?

“Right upper cut, left hook to the body.”

13.  If you could pick one sport, other than boxing, what would you pick?

“Golf. I think them lads live the life”

14.  Most important lesson you learned in life?

“To find something you’re good or passionate about, and then do lots of it.”

15.  Tell Wexford Weekly readers something they don’t know about you.

“GAA was my first sporting love.”
