There will be no managerial change in both Senior set-ups for the upcoming inter-county seasons…
Both Keith Rossiter and John Hegarty will continue in their roles as Wexford Senior hurling manager and Wexford Senior football manager respectively.
At a recent Wexford GAA County Board meeting, held online on September 5th, it was revealed that a review was carried out and the committee are happy with management to continue in their roles.
“A review was carried out for our Senior Footballers and there was a positive response. Management is happy for John Hegarty to continue his role as Senior Football Manager,” it was revealed.
John Hegarty was named as the Wexford Senior Football manager in 2022 following Shane Roche’s departure.
Meanwhile, Keith Rossiter is fresh in to the job, only having managed the Wexford Senior Hurling team for one year following Darragh Egan’s departure.
At the Wexford GAA County Board meeting, it was noted that Rossiter will be in the “role for 2 years with the option of a third year, so ratification is not required for either manager.”
Unfortunate to miss out on it in last year’s campaign, the Wexford Senior footballers will have qualification from Division 4 set as their main priority. A run in the Leinster Championship or the Tailteann Cup is another realistic aim for John Hegarty’s squad.
For Rossiter and the Wexford Senior hurlers, introducing more youth and getting their hands on the Bob O’Keeffe Cup for the first time since 2019 would be high on their priority list, especially with some long-serving players pushing closer to retirement. Likewise, gaining a level of consistency and performing well in all matches is a must for the team, should they wish to progress.
