Wexford boys bring home medals from World Kickboxing Championships

Two young kickboxers from Ballycullane, New Ross have done their county — and their country — immensely proud after bringing home an incredible six medals from the ICO World Kickboxing Championships in Swansea, Wales…

Brothers Dean (10) and Jesse-James O’Riordan (8) represented Ireland at the global event, which took place from October 15th to 20th and featured four days of intense international competition.

The pair train at Pat Rockett Martial Arts Academy in Waterford under the guidance of head coaches Pat Rockett and Clodagh Cullen, who also serves as the ICO President of Ireland.

They travelled with a small but powerful Irish squad of just nine athletes — yet Team Ireland still managed to secure an extraordinary 19 world medals.

Between them, the brothers claimed six world medals, including two world titles, a remarkable achievement for athletes so young.

Both boys are committed members of Pat Rockett Martial Arts Academy, training multiple times a week alongside teammates who also enjoyed great success in Swansea. Their dedication, discipline, and hard work continue to make their family, club, and county extremely proud.
