Dave Guiney names star-studded Wexford Masters team for All-Ireland final

The Wexford Masters hurling team are into the 2024 All-Ireland final

They will take on the Tipperary Masters in the All-Ireland Masters final, a team with former stars such as Lar Corbett, Eoin Kelly, and Benny Dunne all featuring for their side in previous clashes. For Wexford, a number of Wexford hurling legends such as Diarmuid Lyng, Rory Jacob, Michael Jacob, and Mossy Mahon have all featured on the team at various stages.

Borris-Ileigh will host both the Championship and Shield finals on Saturday, October 19th, at 4pm, with Wexford travelling to oppose Ger ‘Redser’ O’Grady’s charges.

On the day, there will be two games played. Wexford will take on Tipperary in the Cup final at 4pm, while Galway will take on Cork in the Shield final at 2pm as the curtain raiser. The Wexford game will be refereed by Johnny Murphy from Limerick. For those interested in attending the clash, there will be a €10 entry fee, payable upon entry – while u16s are free.

Wexford have went unbeaten in the competition so far and they’ll be hoping to continue their winning ways next Saturday. In their previous games, they defeated Kildare, Limerick, Cork, and Galway. They were due to take on Tipperary in their final group game, but as both Tipperary and Wexford were already through to the final, it was agreed by both teams and the Masters Association to run the final group game off as the Masters hurling final.

The Wexford Masters team is managed by Rathnure’s Dave Guiney, while Gorey’s David ‘Bomber’ Kennedy and Padge ‘Skinner’ Walsh act as the team’s selectors.

Ahead of the clash, manager Dave Guiney has revealed his starting team. All of the players who have featured in previous clashes have been named on the squad for the All-Ireland clash against Tipperary.
