The Wexford minor Roinn 1 County final took last month…
The match, which took place in Craanford, seen Askamore/Kilrush overcome Naomh Eanna in the County final, winning on an impressive score-line of 0-25 to 1-07.
One of the best moments of the match came from Askamore’s nippy corner-forward, Jack Sheridan – and it has went unnoticed in the media until now. The ball came into him and he flicked the ball up with his foot before calmly slotting the ball over the bar from over his shoulder.
It’s a skill that many people practice for fun in their back gardens or at the pitch, but to do something like this – on the biggest of days in a County final – takes some courage and skill.

It topped off an excellent year for the Askamore minor team, as they also won the Minor shield final in the football championship after defeating Monageer on October 19th.
Meanwhile, in related Wexford hurling news, St Martins overcame St Annes in the Wexford Senior hurling final over the weekend and they now await the Kildare County Champions in the Leinster Club hurling championship.
