Leading up to Christmas, there are many events that excite families…
One such event is part of Wexford Winterland, the turning on of the Christmas lights in Wexford – a moment which officially marks the start of the Christmas period for many people across the town.
The turning on of the lights was meant to take place on Saturday, November 23rd. However, the organisers were forced to cancel the event due to adverse weather conditions.
The organisers had then decided that the new date would be Thursday 28th November.
Many people expressed their disappointment with the new date, given that it fell on a weekday and that many kids wouldn’t even be able to get there due to school times and working times. The organisers responded to the disappointment, highlight that it was out of their control as several bookings were already in place in the Crescent on the following weekend.
“We understand people were disappointed that the Winterland Parade and Turning on of the Lights was rescheduled for a weekday and an early start time (due to train times being different on weekdays). However, the reason for it being a midweek date was due to Santa having several bookings in the Crescent on Saturday 30th,” they said.
But, thanks to the kindness of the Wexford people – and those who previously made bookings, the Wexford Winterland will take place on Saturday 30th November. The organisers contacted those with bookings and the Wexford people will bookings have kindly rescheduled, opening up the opportunity for the Wexford Winterland to take place on Saturday 30th.
“We have contacted customers that had bookings for this day and they have kindly agreed to reschedule their bookings for a different date and time. We would like to extend a huge thank you to these customers for being so gracious and moving their dates and times to allow the Winterland Parade and Turning on of the Lights to take place on Saturday 30th,” they said.
They are looking forward to welcoming us all to ring in the festive season on Saturday 30th November at 4.30pm and it promises to be an excellent event.
The Festive spirit is well and truly alive in Wexford this Christmas.
