First-ever Sigerson Cup match to be played in Wexford this evening

It’s a new year and for many, that means it’s time for some changes…

That certainly seems to be the case with the Sigerson Cup too.

A Sigerson Cup match will be played in Wexford for the first-time ever this evening.

University College Cork (UCC) will take on University College Dublin (UCD) and it’s sure to be an exciting encounter with a lot of top talent declared to play for both sides.

The match will take place in St Patrick’s Park in Enniscorthy with throw-in time set for 4pm.

It’s the opening round for both teams. The Sigerson Cup is the All-Ireland football competition for universities and college teams and it provides an excellent platform for players to play top-level football – both with and against – some of the best young talent around.

Wexford only has one representative – Castletown’s Liam Coleman – partaking in this year’s Sigerson Cup, however, they do have an array of hurlers declared to play in this year’s Fitzgibbon Cup.
