A key Wexford hurler remains unsure about his commitment to the inter-county set-up for 2025…
Long-serving Wexford hurler and St Annes club man, Liam óG McGovern, remains unsure about his inter-county future.
Despite the fact that the Allianz League campaign will get underway this weekend when Wexford take on Cork on January 25th, the St Annes club man has not yet re-joined the panel for the season ahead.
McGovern is clearly giving a lot of time to weigh up his decision; back in August, he noted that he was thinking about retiring from the inter-county scene.
McGovern will be making his decision, and informing management about his inter-county future, by the end of this week.
“We hope to have some finalisation with Liam Óg this week. That’s as much as I can say at the moment,” manager Keith Rossiter told the Irish Examiner.
His loss would come as a huge blow to Keith Rossiter and the Wexford Senior hurling set-up. Along with his experience around the young panel, he remains one of Wexford’s key attackers, always dangerous in front of goal and always giving 100% to the Purple and Gold cause. Ahead of the season, long-serving members and team-mates, Matthew O’Hanlon and Dee O’Keeffe, retired from the inter-county scene.
