
Ireland and the UK are under high alert at the moment…
That comes after Irish weather forecaster, Met Eireann, has issued a status red warning alert.
Wexford, along with the rest of Ireland, has been placed under a Status Red warning by Ireland’s national weather forecaster as Storm Éowyn comes into effect.
Met Eireann has predicted “gale to storm force southerly winds becoming westerly with extreme, damaging and destructive gusts in excess of 130km/h.”
Some of the potential impacts include:
• Extremely dangerous travelling conditions
• Unsafe working conditions
• Danger to life
• Disruption and cancellations to transport
• Many fallen trees
• Significant and widespread power outages
• Impacts to communications networks
• Cancellation of event
• Structural damage
• Wave overtopping
• Coastal flooding in low-lying and exposed areas
The warning is valid from 02:00 Friday 24/01/2025 to 10:00 Friday 24/01/2025.
Schools, colleges and creches in impacted counties will close tomorrow, the National Emergency Coordination Group has announced.
