Khvicha Kvaratskhelia moved to PSG: what opportunities this creates for the club

Global betting company 1xBet, the official partner of the French giant, talks about the biggest news of the winter transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain paid Napoli €70 million for Kvaratskhelia, and it’s the fourth most expensive transfer in the club’s history after Neymar, Kylian Mbappé and Randal Kolo Muani. Is the Georgian worth the money? Yes, absolutely. In his first season with Napoli, Kvaratskhelia became one of the brightest young talents in European football and helped the club win their first Serie A title in 33 years. Napoli fans nicknamed him “Kvaradona” in honour of Diego Maradona – the highest recognition in Naples.

Kvaratskhelia is also very important for the Georgia national team. In 40 matches, the winger scored 17 goals and made 9 assists. In 2024, Khvicha helped the team reach the Euro round of 16. Don’t forget that only 5 years ago Georgia played in League D of the UEFA Nations League.

Khvicha’s ability to create opportunities and score important goals made him a real star. The Parisians’ head coach Luis Enrique is delighted with the transfer: “We’ve wanted to sign him for a long time. He has experience and character, he can score, beat one-on-one and play effectively in defence.” The Spanish coach hopes that Kvaratskhelia will help the team to solve the problem with the conversion rate. Paris Saint-Germain have enough talented players in offence, but in the first half of the season, forwards Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani didn’t impress with their play, and midfielder Lee Kang-in often appeared at the striker position. 1xBet football experts believe that Luis Enrique can use Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at the position of a centre-forward or second striker. The 23-year-old has often played in this role for the Georgia national team, and this won’t be a problem for him.

Luis Enrique’s football requires every player to maximise their effort in pressing and be part of the collective machine. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is perfect for this style, and the Paris Saint-Germain president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, accurately described the Georgian: “He’s one of the most exciting players in world football. A fantastic talent, but also a player who has courage and fights for the team above all else.”

In recent seasons, more and more Georgian footballers have been playing in the top European leagues, and the Kvaratskhelia factor is a strong argument for Paris Saint-Germain in the fight for new stars from this country. Apart from Kvaratskhelia, Georgia is represented in the top leagues by one of the world’s most promising goalkeepers Giorgi Mamardashvili and the Euro 2024 top scorer Georges Mikautadze.
