One Wexford footballer has been named in this week’s Gaa.ie Team of the Week…
Wexford Senior football defender, Paraic Hughes, has been named at centre-back of this week’s GAA.ie Team of the Week.
The Kilanerin/Ballyfad clubman played a pivotal role, starring in the centre-back position for Wexford in their most recent win over Carlow. It means that John Hegarty’s side have now gone three from three in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League, with their sights firmly set on promotion to Division 3 as they currently sit on top of the leader board.

It’s not the first individual award that the Kilanerin man has picked up. In 2023, he was named the Young Player of the Year in the Wexford GAA Club championship. Back in 2020, he also won the Player of the Year award for his university team, DCU.
Wexford will take on Wicklow in the next Allianz Football League game. With derby clashes, they are always going to be difficult – but Wexford will be hoping that their winning run continues against their near-neighbours.
