There are some changes coming to a well-known school in Wexford…
A highly-regarded and well-respected principal, Aidan O’Brien, will retire from his role of Deputy Principal of Good Counsel College in New Ross this week.
The Deputy Principal, also well-known for his passion and his role in GAA circles, will see his teaching career come to an end on Friday afternoon after giving 39 years of service to Good Counsel College.
“As he retires on Friday afternoon, after 39 years in GCC, thank you to Mr Aidan O’Brien for his tireless work and for being a pillar of strength and support in our community.”
“His dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment have left an indelible mark on countless students and colleagues. His guidance and wisdom have shaped the lives of many.”
“We are truly grateful for everything that Aidan has done and wish him health and happiness in retirement. To paraphrase Bryan McMahon, ‘The Master’, A great teacher leaves the track of his teeth on a community for three generations.”
Aidan has certainly done that, and his legacy will be felt in Good Counsel College for many years to come,” a statement read.
There is no doubt that he has left a lasting impact on his colleagues and on his staff after a lengthy service. A Google Forms has been created to allow current and former students to leave a message for Aidan, which he will read in due course.
