
Wexford’s trio of professional boxers are all returning to action soon…
Dean Walsh will be fighting in England this Saturday on March 1st. After that, his focus will turn to a bout in the National Stadium, in an event which will be promoted by Conlan Sports and JB Promotions.
Alongside Walsh on the night will be popular Gorey native, David ‘Bomber’ Kennedy. Kennedy revealed that he will also be fighting on the “Night of Champions” card in Dublin’s National Stadium, with the event to take place on April 12th. Kennedy will be hoping to go 2-0 in the professional boxing ranks after impressing in his debut in October of 2024.
Another Wexford boxer, Dean Gonzalez Furlong, who is residing in Spain, has also received official confirmation for his next professional boxing fight. It’s big news for the Wexford town native as he exclusively revealed to Wexford Weekly that he is set to headline a fight in Alicante, Spain. This bout, under the bright lights, will take place on March 22nd. The title of the show is “he name of the show is “XI Trofeo Trojan FIT” and the event is being promoted by Spaniard, Arturo Agulló.

Gonzalez-Furlong currently holds a record of 3-0 in the professional boxing ranks.

Aged just 22, it’s quite impressive to be headlining a professional boxing bout at this stage of his life and career.
Like the others, Gonzalez-Furlong was highly impressive in his last fight, where he quickly dismantled his opponent Sebastian Wojtan on the ‘War in Waterford’ card held in December of 2024. In quick fashion, he lived up to his nickname ‘Speedy’, getting his hand raised after a knock-out victory in the first round of the fight.
