Wexford’s Dean Walsh makes it two from two in pro boxing ranks

A professional Wexford boxer was fighting over the weekend…

New professional Wexford boxer, Dean Walsh, was fighting in Sheffield on the ‘Skate Central’ card on Saturday evening.

Although he was fighting a journeyman, the fight went the distance – with Walsh winning all six rounds of the fight by a judge’s unanimous decision. It was the first 6 rounder of Walsh’s professional boxing career and it is ring experience that will no doubt stand to him as he progresses.

The Wexford man had his hand raised by the referee to make it two from two in the professional boxing ranks.

Speaking after the fight, Dean Walsh said:

“I’m happy with my performance overall. There’s still lots of room for improvement, but I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next. Massive thanks to my team who have got me in top class condition day in day out and pushing me to the limits,” he said.

The 31-year old Wexford town native will be returning to action on April 12th. Alongside another Wexford boxer – David Kennedy – Walsh will be fighting on the “A Night of Champions” card held in the National Stadium.
