Watch: Highlights of Wexford vs Galway, Allianz Leauge 2025

The Wexford Senior hurlers hosted Galway in the Allianz Hurling League on Saturday…

It wasn’t to be for the Wexford Senior hurling team as they lost out on a score-line of 2-19 to 1-20 to the Tribesmen. Wexford were handed a sucker-blow right before half-time when the sliotar was parried to the back of Mark Fanning’s net. Directly after half-time, Rory O’Connor buried the ball low past the Galway goalkeeper to bring the side’s back level. Wexford were seven points down at one stage in the second-half, but the Wexford crowd could sense a comeback. A late Mark Fanning free was stopped by the Galway defence before the referee blew his full-time whistle.

Wexford will now look forward to a battle against Limerick (away) in their last Allianz League clash of the campaign. Two teams will be relegated from Division 1A. Wexford sit on the bottom of the Allianz League table, having only picked up two points when they defeated Clare in the previous round. After their loss against Galway, Wexford will need to win against Limerick, and they will need Limerick to lose their remaining clashes, to avoid relegation. Limerick lost to Clare over the weekend, but it’s unlikely that they will lose their remaining matches on the bounce, meaning Keith Rossiter’s charges will likely fall through the relegation trap door.
