
One Wexford woman was on the successful DCU team which won the O’Connor Cup recently…
The HEC O’Connor Cup, also referred to as the Michael O’Connor Cup, is the Senior Ladies Gaelic Football intervarsity cup competition.
It features teams representing Universities and Institutes of Technology in both the Republic of Ireland and in Northern Ireland. It is organised by the Higher Education Colleges committee of the Ladies’ Gaelic Football Association.
DCU were victorious in the O’Connor Cup, in what was their third year in a row winning the trophy. DCU Dóchas Éireann defeated UCC on a score-line of 2-11 to 1-9.
Aoife Cullen, who hails from the Gusserane O’Rahilly’s club in South Wexford, was the sole Wexford representative on the winning team.
Cullen lined out in midfield for the impressive University outfit.

A number of other Wexford women also took part in the competition on Thursday, Friday and Saturday last.
