A Wexford boxer continued his winning ways over the weekend…
Wexford boxer, Dean Gonzalez Furlong, made it 4-0 in professional boxing on Saturday night. The Wexford man, now residing in Spain, headlined a bill in Alicante, Spain.
The popular Wexford man, who brought a big local crowd, seen his fight go the distance with his tough opponent, Dmitri Blinov.
The Wexford man, wearing purple and gold shorts as an ode to his roots in Wexford, had his hand raised after the judge’s unanimously decided that Furlong won the fight. The judges scored the fight as follows: Roiman Cardona 39-37, Cristina Garcia 39-37, Ursula Serrat 40-36.
It’s another step in the right direction for 22-year-old Furlong and Wexford boxing as a whole.
Another two of Wexford’s professional boxers will be fighting next month. Both David Kennedy and Dean Walsh are on the same card on the ‘Night of Champions’ bill, taking place on April 12th in the National Stadium.
