This year’s Bike Week promises to be the biggest and best in Gorey so far, with a range of activities and events for all ages...
There are a number of events taking place around the Gorey area, all of which are detailed below:
Gorey Bike Fest: Sunday 11th May, 11am-1pm, Gorey Town Park
Organised by Wexford County Council, Gorey Pedestrian and Cycling Association, and other local community groups and businesses, Gorey Bike Fest is a family friendly event focused on all things cycling.
Riverchapel’s Bike Buddies will be in attendance, providing balance bikes and fun cycling games for children.
Those who are curious about electric bicycles will have a chance to cycle one around the park and discover a great way to get around, without even breaking a sweat.
Attendees are encouraged to ‘Bling your bike or sparkle your scooter,’ using ribbons, flags, repurposed materials and other items, to be in with a chance of winning a cycling-themed prize.
Slow and steady will be the name of the game in the ‘Slow Bicycle Race,’ where participants in adult and child categories will compete to beat the slowest time and win a cycling-themed prize.
Family Friendly Slow Roll: Sunday 11th May at 12pm
This event is departing from the Hollyfort Road entrance of Gorey Town Park.
A highlight of Gorey Bike Fest is a “Slow Roll,” a fun all-ages cycle from the park to the town centre and back again. Everyone taking part will receive a refreshment voucher for The Coffee Pod.
Children must be accompanied by an adult and all participants must wear a helmet and hi-vis.

Biodiversity Bike Ride: Sunday 18th May, 11am-1pm
Gorey Pedestrian and Cycling Association is also organising a Biodiversity Bike Ride in collaboration with Wexford Environmental Network, to celebrate the crossover of Bike Week and Biodiversity Week.
Biodiversity expert Natasha Ariff will lead the group on a tour of some of Gorey’s biodiversity areas, and discuss how we can do more to protect nature in the town. The event will conclude at The Coffee Pod in Gorey Town Park, with free refreshments for all taking part.
