Former Kilkenny hurler named manager of Wexford Senior hurling club

A former Kilkenny hurler has been named as manager of a Wexford Senior hurling club…

Preparations are well and truly underway for this Friday and this weekend’s Senior hurling action as the Wexford Senior hurling championship returns for 2025.

There are multiple new faces on the sidelines for Wexford Senior hurling clubs.

One of the bigger names of the side-line will be for Oylegate-Glenbrien. Former Kilkenny hurler, Kieran Joyce, will be taking over Oylegate-Glenbrien as they bid for Senior hurling success in 2025. The four-time All-Ireland winner played in the half-back line for the Kilkenny Senior hurling team from 2011 to 2017.

Oylegate-Glenbrien reached the 2023 Wexford Senior hurling final before losing out to Naomh Eanna in the final.

Joyce replaces current Wexford Senior hurling selector, Des Mythen, as manager of Oylegate-Glenbrien. Mythen will be acting as a selector with the Senior hurlers of his native club, Oulart-The Ballagh, for the 2025 season with his former club and county-part Rory Jacob managing the team.

Some other new faces on the side-lines include Paul Carley who will be managing his native Glynn-Barntown, while hurling stalwart Mossy Mahon will be in charge of his club Rapparees for the 2025 season.

The Wexford Senior hurling championship returns this Friday evening with games also being played on Saturday.
