Multiple religious statues recovered from river in Wexford

Gardaí are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the origin of several distinctive religious statues recovered from the river in Kilcarbry, Enniscorthy, County Wexford recently….

Mutliple religious statues were recovered from the river. Among the items recovered are:

Two Pietà-style statues depicting the body of Christ after crucifixion

A full crucifix figure

A mounted crucifix with black cross

A golden statue of a horse

Gardaí in Enniscorthy have noted that th “items appear to be of religious and/or ornamental significance, and may have been stolen or unlawfully removed from a church, cemetery, religious site or private premises.”

Gardai in Enniscorthy are appealing to anyone who may recognise the items or have information that may assist in tracing the ornaments to the rightful owners.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Enniscorthy Garda Station on 053 924 2580 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
