Two former Wexford Senior hurlers suffer cruciate blows during club campaign

Two former Wexford Senior hurlers have been handed serious blows…

Four rounds of the Wexford Senior hurling championship have now been played – and the tables are beginning to take shape.

Two Wexford Senior hurling clubs, will have to make-do without two of their star players for the remainder of the campaign though.

According to a report in this week’s Wexford People, St Martins centre-back, Joe O’Connor, suffered a cruciate injury and will not feature for his club for the remainder of the campaign.

Meanwhile, former Wexford hurler and Faythe Harriers stalwart, Richie Kehoe, also suffered the same fate. The long-serving Harriers centre-back suffered a cruciate ligament injury during the most-recent Faythe Harriers clash against the Rapparees, which seen the Rapparees emerge victorious.

Following the game, Kehoe’s opposition team – the Rapparees – posted a heartfelt message, wishing him a speedy recovery:

“Rapparees would like to extend their good wishes for a speedy recovery to Richie Kehoe who sustained a serious knee injury in last nights clash with the Faythe Harriers in Wexford Park,” a spokesperson for the club said.

It’s not the first-time that Kehoe has suffered with a knee issue. In 2019, he was aslo forced off the field in agonising pain when his team took on St Martins in a Wexford SHC clash.
