Wexford woman in seaside village wins €500,000 in lotto

A Wexford player in the popular seaside town of Courtown has won €500,000 after matching all 5 numbers on Firday’s (8th August) EuroMillions Plus draw….

The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on the 7th August from Gala Express, Courtown Harbour, Courtown, Co. Wexford.  

The winning numbers from the EuroMillions Plus draw were: 5, 21, 26, 27 and 40.  

Speaking about ther win, she said that she couldn’t believe it:

“I remember the day well because the sun was shining and all I wanted was a 99 ice-cream cone. I bought the Quick Pick ticket not thinking about the possibility of winning. This is a life-changing prize for me, without any major changes.”

“It’s going to provide long-term security, and it’s just amazing – I still can’t believe it,” she told Wexford Weekly.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total, more than €6.5 billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 37 years ago. In 2024 alone, €239.3 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
